Great Lakes legislation stirs controversy

TORONTO — Legislation to protect Great Lakes water from being siphoned to jurisdictions not immediately surrounding the lakes is being finalized by Ontario, Quebec and eight U.S. states.
This legislation will be controversial as water becomes more of a commodity in North America since some States will suffer longer Summers and drought with the imminent effects of Global Warming. some scientists are predicting a drop of more than 3 feet in water levels by mid-century

OTTAWA — A sweeping accord for the economic integration of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico has unleashed a firestorm of debate south of the border.Everyone from national congressmen and state legislators to bloggers and YouTubers are raising the alarm about the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), a plan to harmonize the countries’ economic and security practices.
The reality of the situation is that the talks have already been underway for sometime and there will no doubt be an integration of security measures where immigration issues are concerned.
Toronto based Certified Canadian Immigration Consultant Eric Katz hosted skypecast discussing skilled worker emigration to Canada and labour market opinion for skilled work visas.
Eric discusses the oil and gas boom in Western Canada and the implications of the new Canada Immigration Minister Diane Findlay formerly of the Dept of Human Resources now known as Service Canada.

She has taken over from former Minister Monte Solberg who has now taken Finley’s old job at Service Canada.
This is good news for the industry in that both departments should soon be able to synchronize their policies. It is possible we could see a one stop approach to obtaining labour market opinions and the issuance of work permits. Hopefully a common sense approach will prevail in that both departments will now harmonize and streamline some of the redundant processing issues.
